The Grandfather

Native from the Jura, then renowned for its skilled lapidists, Rene moved to Paris to found his own company that eventually stood proudly among the ten largest European companies dealing with colored stones and served the greatest Parisian jewelers from Place Vendome.

Rene was president of the lapidary section “Meilleurs Ouvriers de France “ (Best Craftsmen of France).

The Father

Daniel joined his father in law company and founded the “Association Française de Gemmologie” in 1961. He began exploratory trips to Asia, Africa and South America in 1962. An internationally recognized expert in colored gemstones he was appointed by various institutions and government agencies. He succeeded Rene at the Presidency of the lapidary section “Meilleurs Ouvriers de France “ and headed the Ethics and grievances department of ICA (International Colored Gemstone Association).

Eric Piat

Eric’s passion for jewelry making and his knowledge of gemstones came to him from his family heritage of many generations. As an accomplished gemologist and talented designer, Eric established Rubicon in 1987 in one of the world's most famous cluster for gemstones with quality cutting craftsmen. He then took on the making of exceptional pieces for numerous of renowned jewelry brands.

Why Rubicon was established in Thailand?

“The core strength of the Thai gems and jewelry industry has always been the expert skills of the Thai craftsmen” said Khun Somchai Phornchindarak, vice president of the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA).

Thailand’s expertise in cutting and polishing precious stones and diamonds indeed is praised worldwide. Because of the high standard of workmanship, international gem and jewelry merchants send vast amounts of gemstones to the country for these precision processes.

We are buying gold and refining our gold dust from RJC ( Responsible Jewelry Council ) accredited companies.
All our diamonds are going through a third party laboratory for CVD and HPHT testing.
